It was only last night that I truly realize how of good quality Laskar Pelangi is. I don't need to explain more because I'm sure you already knew what I mean with high quality

I'm particularly impressed with the diction (pilihan kata). Hirata ssi really got the style. Is it himself, or every Melayu writer has such different style in arranging words into beautiful sentences? These Melayu artists surely has their own language..
Last night I read Miang Sui again, the chapter when Ikal met A Ling after the Thai Se Ya celebration (am I right? What do people call
Sembahyang Rebut in English?). I just love the way he told the story. I admire the way he expressed his feeling, so implicitely but you knew how deep it goes. It's just a different kind of love story, something we now rarely find in our literatures. Something that maybe we all miss. And maybe, something that makes it more valuable.
And the character A Ling herself. I think she's someone readers will easily fall in love with (though there must be this kind of petty jealousy among Ikal's fans, am I right?

). As a young girl, she's just so sweet and lovable, yet she shows maturity not all girls at her age posses. Just take a look at page 338. You'll find characteristics, the good ones, that will make you reflect to yourself and think: have I been a girl with such good characterictics and principles? Well at least that was what happened with me

.
From those chapters I read last night, the sentence that really got straight to my heart was:
"Bagiku ia seperti seseorang yang akan selalu menjadi milik orang lain.."
("For me she looks like someone who will always belong to someone else not me.")
Because it's sad, but at the same time very beautiful.
